THE WAY CHRISTIANITY HAS BEEN USED

People have been taught that blackness is something of a divine curse-that Blacks are the children of Ham and that Ham was one of the sons of Noah who mocked Noah in his drunkenness and Noah cursed him. And of course, he was doomed to be a hewer of wood and a drawer of water. So today, Black folk think of themselves in a servitude posture. Black folk think of the color of their skin as a curse. They think of the texture of their hair as something terrible; the thickness of our lips or the shape of our noses. This is not because we desire to think this way, but we live in America where white standards of beauty have been imposed upon us.

Now, how do you break this? By telling the truth. The truth is that Black people have a beauty that is ours. It is uniquely ours. White people have their beauty. As White people learn to appreciate themselves, and we learn to appreciate ourselves, then maybe we can appreciate one another. But truth must be told. The truth is, according to our own scholars, our own scientists...

1. Black skin color is from a dominant gene, and white skin color is from a recessive gene.
2. Dark eye color is from a dominant gene, and light eye color is from a recessive gene.

Now scholars of genetics have taken the mitochondrial DNA and have traced the origin of modern human beings to the Black woman. Look, we are the father of all modern human beings. Tell it from the mountain that Black people are the original people of the Earth. That doesn't make us better, but it says that we are your father-we are your mother, and you should honor your father and mother that your days may be long.

The Bigotry Of Low Expectation

This insidious form of discrimination is re-emerging from the dark abyss of racial inequalities and socio/economic injustices heaped upon a huge segment of our nationals. Simply put, I speak of herding children through our public education institutions like cattle; feed them for a year, then letting them move on to the next grade level. The academic bar has sunken to lows of national disgrace, and our children have fallen to the challenge of low expectations. This sad state of affairs is now casting an ominous shadow over the impending collapse of our public education system due to the the inadequately funded"No Child Left Behind" federal legislation of the George W. Bush administration, and immigration policies that threaten the core standards of our everyday existence. Here is my position.

1. Standardized testing gives the best baseline measure of scholastic aptitude and achievement. Although, high test scores in subjects like math, science and reading does not guarantee ones suceess, it is safe to say that the general public at large would rather a child demonstrate the ability to write a book report, as opposed to drawing one. I say, test at every grade level, and do not promote a child to the next grade level until standardized core academic competencies have been met.

2. If a child has not mastered the english language proficiencies to allow that child the fair and reasonable opportunities to study other languages embedded within english such as, math and science, do not promote the child to the next grade level until standardized core academic competencies have been met.

3. Place the best teachers in our classrooms, hand picked by our Supreme Being, and some children will not master standardized core academic competencies. There are simply too many reasons to list that can thoroughly support this premise. These children should, therefore, be placed in alternative schools where they can reached their full authentic potential.

4. Terminate the employment of any otherwise "highly qualified" and certified education professional that is proven to a preponderance of evidence to be engaged in the practice of "bigotry of low expectation".
